TIAS 2016 Days 8,9,10

TIAS 2016

I've still been tatting even if I haven't been updating often enough. Here's my progress so far (up to day 8). I'm guessing it's a FROG.

                       

Twirlz

Handy hands included a sample of their new thread with the latest newsletter. Just looking at the thread makes my eyes cross, so it'll be interesting to see how it tatts up. I'm going to do up  Konior's Ring A Ring O' Roses, which I've not done before.

TIAS days 6-7, Mystery Doily and Earrings

Here is the next 2 days work on TIAS. You can see how it was cupping, before I gently stretched it out. I don't know if this means my picots are too long or too short.

I had also started in on the Mystery Doily that so many other tatters have been working on.

This weekend is Tucson Meet Yourself, and the tatting club will be there demonstrating lace. It looks like there will be even more 'folk artists' this year, and I'm looking forward to some delicious food from all the world's corners!

Lizbeth fail

Almost finished tatting up a Marilee Rocklee design and the thread breaks :(    It's the same thread I used for Neibach's Amanda - Lizbeth size 40 col 665 and I have never had a Lizbeth thread break on me this much! It broke on me so much while tatting Amanda. Has anyone else had this problem?

Milena, Delia and the County Fair

I finished Milena over a week ago. I did iron it but the tatting club was demonstrating at the Pima County Fair, so it's not as flat as it was.

 SO CLOSE to finishing Delia (only 3 rings left!) and my shuttle's out of thread :(

I think I'll start Beatrice next...

And from the Pima County Fair, another blue ribbon. It doesn't seem as cool when yours is the only tatting entered. If you notice that it looks different from the last photo I posted, I added parchment paper as the background. It looks like rice paper!

I finally finished a Neibach!

It's been a long time coming, and I had to do a lot of untatting but it's finally done! This puppy is going to the Pima County fair in a week :)

Now that I've finished this one, I think I'm going to try and do every single doily in this book.

Trying Niebach

We were moving at the beginning of this year, so not many chances to post, but I've been tatting. I got Iris Niebach's 'Tatted Doilies'.


I could not for the life of me figure out how to read the diagrams, so I just did the middle rounds of Annalisa, and then kind of got the diagram.
 

 I thought I had the diagram under my belt, but as you can see from the picture of Milena, I screwed up the joins around the josephine rings.

So we're trying again...

The written pattern for this was awful. Luckily there were pics that I could look at to make a visual pattern from.

Here's are some finished projects and beginning another Tischband

I finished this little guy a while ago.

I've been working with size 40 so much lately that it seems working in 80 has gotten easier. So I've started a pineapple doily (not my own pattern- it's written out and I've already found mistakes in the pattern, so I'm making a diagram of the pattern as I go along, fixing those mistakes)

In this last Handy Hands newsletter there was a free handkerchief, so I immediately started working on an edging (pattern from same newsletter).

I pretty much hate pink, so this is going to mom (she loves pink).

I'm also starting another Tischband, different colors this time and in size 40 instead of 20. We'll see how this goes.

For next time, I'll do one less round on the flowers like others have suggested.

 Oh boy.

It certainly flattened after ironing, but it's still a little wonky.

Tischband Almost Finished

On the last leaf and I've run out of thread! I literally only have the last 7 chains (two joins) to do and the shuttle is empty. I don't want to refill the shuttle just to finish the little bit left, so that means finger tatting. I'm ok with that...it can be a bit of a pain if you have a  lot of thread though. Oh well.

I've seen that others have the same problem I'm going to have when I do the last two joins, in the the piece won't be laying flat. I'm hoping a hot steamy iron will take care of that.

I think I'm going to leave this piece at this size, starch it and have a little coaster. It's the perfect size for a coaster.
